LET'S DANCE! Softball Heads to NCAA Tournament as No. 2 Seed; Will Face Gannon at Charleston on Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS—The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion West Chester University softball team (34-20) learned where its 2024 season will continue on Monday morning. The Golden Rams head to the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region. West Chester will travel to West Virginia for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament next weekend, heading to Charleston as Mountain East Champion University of Charleston (45-4) was selected as the Regional host for the opening weekend.
West Chester enters the weekend after a perfect 4-0 run through the PSAC Tournament in Quakertown, which saw the Golden Rams post wins over Seton Hill, East Stroudsburg, and Kutztown. West Chester outscored its opponents 37-15 in the PSAC Tournament led by five home runs by Mairead Hopkins (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) and a perfect 4-0 effort in the circle with three complete games from Danielle Ciliberto (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon).
The Golden Rams will begin their stay in West Virginia with an opening-round game against seventh-seeded Gannon (31-13) on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., while Charleston will play Bloomsburg (33-22) in the other half of the regional pod.
East Stroudsburg (45-15) claimed the top seed in the region and will host CIAA Champion Bowie State (20-21) in its opening-round game. Kutztown and Shippensburg secured the fourth and fifth seeds, matching up in the other half of the East Stroudsburg regional.
Play begins on Thursday, May 9, and will continue through Saturday, May 11.

Following this win, West Chester is now the lone unbeaten team in the Charleston regional and is off to its best start to a postseason since 2017, when the team also won each of its first six games to begin the second season, as many coaches refer to it. West Chester will need just one win on Saturday to advance out of the Charleston regional and advance to Super Regionals at the home of the highest remaining seed when play begins next Tuesday.
