The Wind Ensemble welcomes Philadelphia Orchestra trombonist, Nitzan Haroz for a performance of Joseph Turrin’s Triptych. Also featured is James David’s Symphony No. 2, “The Road is Life”, a reflection on the beat poetry and music of the mid twentieth century. The WCU Wind Ensemble is composed of 45 of the finest wind and percussion players at WCU. As a premier ensemble, the group represents WCU at conventions and performs in high schools throughout the region. Many new works have been commissioned by the Ensemble in recent years. Many members are new to historical instruments and often select an instrument similar to one they already play. For instance, singers have transitioned to viol players, and pianists have taken up the recorder.
