The Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a highly select group of singers chosen for their exceptional musical skills and ability to sing close harmony and blend seamlessly. This small ensemble performs vocal jazz, often with one singer per part, and is accompanied by a talented jazz trio. Each member is given the opportunity to shine with solo performances, showcasing their unique talents. The Latin Jazz Ensemble brings the vibrant and energetic styles popularized by legendary musicians such as Mario Bauza, Tito Puente, and Eddie Palmieri. Members of this ensemble master the fundamentals of playing in clavé and explore advanced concepts of Latin music styles, emphasizing strong rhythmic interpretation, performance practices, and improvisation. The Latin Jazz Ensemble performs regularly on campus and at various local events, including high school jazz festivals and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations.
