The WCU Symphony Orchestra, an ensemble of over 70 talented student musicians, presents 5 to 6 concerts each year, performing both on and off campus. On campus, the orchestra graces the stages of the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre and Asplundh Concert Hall. One of the highlights of the spring season is the annual Concert on the Quad, an outdoor event so well received that CBS News featured it during their nighttime news. Each year, the orchestra accompanies concerto winners from WCU’s Wells School of Music and performs at prestigious venues such as Verizon Hall in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. The ensemble’s repertoire includes standard symphonic works as well as new compositions, including the world premiere of Symphony No. 1 by alumnus Joe Harkins.
