Wind Ensemble; <a href="www.wcu pa.edu/music/ensembleFaculty/aYozviak.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andrew Yozviak, director Livestream | Program Triptych The final wind band performance of the fall semester features consortium premieres of two significant works. The Wind Ensemble welcomes Philadelphia Orchestra trombonist, Nitzan Haroz for a performance of Joseph Turrin’s Triptych. Also featured is James David’s Symphony No. 2, “The Road is Life”, a reflection on the beat poetry and music of the mid twentieth century. The WCU Wind Ensemble is composed of 45 of the finest wind and percussion players at WCU. As a premier ensemble, the group represents WCU at conventions and performs in high schools throughout the region. Many new works have been commissioned by the Ensemble in recent years. Collegium Musicum; Mark Rimple, director Livestream | Program About Collegium Musicum: The Collegium Musicum at West Chester University, directed by Professor Mark Rimple, is an ensemble dedicated to the performance of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music. Membership varies based on interest and ability, with opportunities for players of recorders, viols, and broken consorts, as well as singers and keyboardists specializing in continuo playing. Many members are new to historical instruments and often select an instrument similar to one they already play. For instance, singers have transitioned to viol players, and pianists have taken up the recorder. And Now: A Word From Our Friends Lecture Series Jonathan Ragonese, director Livestream | Program In its second season, the new lecture series will feature one of Pennsylvania’s renowned musicians, drummer Bill Goodwin. Goodwin (b. 1942) is an integral part of the history of jazz, having performed with Bill Evans, Lee Konitz, Dexter Gordon, Joe Williams, Charles Lloyd, George Shearing and a long list of others. Outside of the sphere of improvisation, he recorded with Tom Waits and Jefferson Airplane. His life grew out of show business, and stands as an exemplary creative career. Join him as he plays, converses and shares.
