Softball Ranked Fifth in Final NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS- The Division II softball committee released its final set of regional rankings on Wednesday afternoon. West Chester (30-20) climbed to fifth in the Atlantic Region ahead of the Division II Softball selection show on Monday morning.

The Division II softball committee released its final set of regional rankings on Wednesday afternoon. West Chester (30-20) climbed to fifth in the Atlantic Region ahead of the Division II Softball selection show on Monday morning.

West Chester closed out the regular season as winners of four of its last six to end the regular season, including an important sweep of Shippensburg last Tuesday; the Golden Rams slid up one spot in the rankings, moving from fifth to sixth.

East Stroudsburg (41-13) retained the top spot in the rankings after clinching the PSAC East regular-season crown a week ago, while Charleston (W.V.) (41-4) moved into second, followed by Kutztown (31-20) in fourth and West Chester in fifth. Bloomsburg (31-20), who opened the PSAC Tournament with a no-hit victory from Callie Sowers on Wednesday morning, remained in the rankings, checking in at sixth, followed by Glenville State (24-18) in seventh, and Gannon (30-11), the PSAC West regular-season champions in eighth as the final team in the field in the Tournament began today. Fairmont State (33-11) checked in ninth in the final rankings, while Millersville (25-24) was 10th.

The PSAC Tournament gets underway in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, this week with the PSAC Championship game and the automatic bid awarded to that Champion being played for on Saturday (weather permitting). The Division II Softball Tournament Field will be formally announced on Monday, May 6, at 10 a.m. in a show that will air live on NCAA.com.
