Women's Golf Wins Vulcan Fire Classic; Kunze Claims Individual Crown
WASHINGTON, Pa.- Morgan Kunze (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) shot a nine-over 81 in the second round of the Vulcan Fire Classic at Lone Pine Country Club on Tuesday afternoon to capture the Individual Tournament title and help lead West Chester to the Team Tournament crown with a two-day score of 706 (357, 349).
West Chester entered the day just five strokes off the lead and, after improving its score by eight strokes, earned a four-stroke (706-710) victory over host California (Pa.). Individually, Kunze climbed from a tie for seventh after shooting an 87 (+15) in the opening round with a second-round 81 (168; 87, 81), which included a birdie on the par-four fourth to pass Keegan Salinsky of Cal atop the individual leaderboard. Fellow rookie Cierra Griffith (Pottstown, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished close behind, finishing third as an individual at +28 (172; 85,87) for the Championship.
