Women's Cross Country Set for DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown on Saturday
KUTZTOWN, Pa.- The West Chester University women's cross country team is set to return to the course on Saturday on what looks to be an excellent day for cross country in the DII/DIII Challenge hosted by Kutztown University on the North Campus Farm Loop. The women's race will follow the men's race at 9:30 and is expected to begin at approximately 10:15.

West Chester opened its season on Friday night with a second-place finish at the WCU season opener, led by a second-place finish from Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley), who crossed the line 19 minutes and 17.6 seconds to pace the Golden Rams. Tapia was one of three Golden Rams in the top-10 as Jessalyn Welsh (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) was fifth in 19:46.2, followed by Abbie Williams (Huntley, IL./Huntley) in sixth in 19:48.4 and Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) in 10th in 20:08.1.
Williams, Nishi Patel, Riley Dortone, Alaina Zabielsky, Megan Werner, and Rylee McEvoy all made their collegiate debuts for West Chester in Unionville last week as well.

West Chester will be joined in the field by Alvernia, Bloomsburg, DeSales, East Stroudsburg, Georgian Court, Jefferson, Kutztown, and Stockton.

West Chester is expected to be represented by Riley Dortone, Rylee McEvoy, Kristina Tapia, Megan Wener, Abbie Williams, and Alaina Zabielski.
