LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its women's golf weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon and freshman Morgan Kunze (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week after a victory in the Vulcan Fire Classic earlier this week.
Kunze picked up her first collegiate tournament victory on Tuesday afternoon with a victory in the Vulcan Fire Classic at Lone Pine Country Club. Playing in the Golden Rams first Tournament of the Spring 2024 season, Kunze opened her week with an 87 on Monday afternoon, which left her in a tie for seventh entering play on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Kunze shot up the leaderboard with an impressive 81 (+9) to climb from seventh to the top of the leaderboard and help lead West Chester to the team Tournament crown as well.
Kunze and the Golden Rams will return to the course next week at nearby Penn Oaks for the annual Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational. First-round play will begin on Monday afternoon, and second-round action will take place on Tuesday once again.
