Men's Golf Tied for Sixth After Opening Round of Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational

INDIANA, Pa.- Connor Strine (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) fired a one-over 72 to sit in a tie for ninth individually after the opening round of the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational at the Par-71 Indiana Country Club on Monday afternoon. Strine turned in an even-par back nine after registering birdies on the par-five 11th and par-four 13th on Monday as the junior helped West Chester (304) sit in a tie for sixth on the team leaderboard after the first round on Monday afternoon.
West Chester heads into the second round on Tuesday just one stroke back of West Liberty in fifth, six strokes back from Charleston (298) in third and just eight back from Gannon in second as the Golden Knights shot a 296 to open the Tournament. Host Indiana (Pa.) (IUP) holds a comfortable lead heading into day two, sitting atop the leaderboard with a 281, as a trio of Crimson Hawks reside in a tie for second after shooting even par (71) in the first round (Alex Swinnerton, Guillermo Salazar, Aidan LeBlanc).
Evan Jozwiak (Wilson, Pa./Sinking Spring) sits in a tie for 20th after the opening round after being one of just five players in the field to record an eagle on Monday, achieving this feat on the 556-yard par-five first.
