Women's Volleyball Wins Senior Day Thriller Over Lock Haven, 3-1

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Brynn Dreisbach (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Hailey Lewis (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) finished with 15 and 13 kills, respectively to help lead the West Chester University women's volleyball team (13-14, 5-9) to a 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 30-32, 27-25) senior day victory over Lock Haven (11-12, 5-9).

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Brynn Dreisbach (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and Hailey Lewis (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) finished with 15 and 13 kills, respectively to help lead the West Chester University women's volleyball team (13-14, 5-9) to a 3-1 (25-20, 25-15, 30-32, 27-25) senior day victory over Lock Haven (11-12, 5-9).

Prior to the match, West Chester honored its senior class of Lewis, Tori Wright (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion), Sydney Heffner (Bath, Pa./Northampton), and Jamie Byrne (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) for all their contributions to the Golden Rams throughout their careers.

West Chester and Lock Haven traded points throughout the early part of the first set before the Golden Rams got out to a 21-16 lead, prompting the second Bald Eagle timeout of the first set. Lock Haven continued to battle back but the Golden Rams held on for a 25-20 first-set victory over the Bald Eagles.

West Chester jumped out to an early lead in the second set, taking a 10-4 lead out of the gate, prompting a quick Lock Haven timeout. Lock Haven cut into the lead, trimming its deficit to 12-9 before West Chester restored order with a quick 5-0 run to take a 17-9, prompting the second Lock Haven timeout of the opening set. West Chester rode this lead to a 25-15 second set victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Golden Rams and Bald Eagles traded runs throughout much of the third set until West Chester fought its way out to a 21-19 lead, leading to a late Lock Haven timeout. Lock Haven battled back and epic battle began as the Bald Eagles escaped with a 32-30 victory in the third set, after the set featured 20 ties and nine lead changes.

In the fourth set, West Chester got out to an early lead, taking a 20-13 lead before Lock Haven began to rally, cutting the deficit to five and prompting a Golden Ram timeout. Lock Haven battled back, evening the score at 23-23 before a Brynn Dreisbach (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) kill got the Golden Rams back to match point. West Chester continued to battle, closing out the match with a 27-25 victory.

Byrne led the team in assists, posting a match-high 25, while Wright led the way in aces with four in the victory. Heffner led the team in digs with 26, while Dreisbach finished with 10 of her own. Amanda Redding (San Marino, Ca./San Marino) led the squad in blocks, picking up one solo and three assists in the win.

Reagan Irons led Lock Haven in kills, finishing with 19 in the victory, while Kelly Gaston facilitated the offense well, finishing with 37 assists.
