WEST CHESTER, PA – With the end of March comes the beginning of the 2024 college track & field outdoor season. West Chester opens its outdoor campaign on Saturday at home inside John A. Farrell Stadium with the Purple and Gold Invitational.

The Golden Rams have a contingent of home meets in the month of April, in addition to some local meets at Widener University and an appearance at the Penn Relays, before heading to Shippensburg University for the 2024 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. West Chester will conclude its season with a WCU Invitational giving people one last chance to qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Emporia State from May 23 to May 25.

At the 2024 PSAC Indoor Championships, West Chester finished 10th due to a couple of podium finishes from Lily Palacio-Lewis (Warwick, Pa./Elizabethtown), Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili), and Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg).

Palacio-Lewis captains the sprints group coming off stellar performances at the indoor championships in the 60-meter dash and 200m. The senior placed third overall in the 60m dash, with a time of 7.69 seconds, and placed second in the 200m with a time of 25.49 seconds. This allowed her to secure two more PSAC all-conference honors.

In the jumps, Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) led the way. The sophomore placed sixth in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-feet, 1 ¼ inches. She looks to carry this momentum into the outdoor season.

Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) also comes off a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 11-9 ¼.

In the throws, rookie Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) will lead the way as she put the shot 37-8 ½ at the indoor conference meet.

Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) comes into the outdoor season having placed 12th in the mile at the indoor championships with a time of 5:23.43 seconds. She also helped the women's distance medley relay (DMR) team secure a ninth place finish along with Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, NJ./West Deptford), Josey George (Oxford, Ga./Walnut Grove), and Gabrielle Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) with a time of 12:50.77.
