WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Fresh off its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal victory over Bloomsburg earlier this week, the West Chester University women's tennis team turn its attention to Friday's semifinal against three-time defending PSAC champion Indiana (Pa.) (IUP).

West Chester (9-11) will head to the Burt Reese Tennis Center to compete in its 10th consecutive PSAC Semifinal and 11th under head coach Tina Tharp. The second-seeded East team is set to play against the PSAC West top seed and tournament favorite Friday. Millersville, the top seed in the East will face Slippery Rock in the other semifinal on Friday.

West Chester made quick work of Bloomsburg Tuesday afternoon at home, pulling off a rather more dominant result than the 4-3 win during the regular season. The Golden Rams would only concede two sets during its postseason opener and finish the match before Bloomsburg could acquire a single point.

Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) and Tori Alexander (Norristown, Pa./Spring-Ford) scored a convincing 6-3 win as they improved their doubles record to a perfect 6-0 against league competition. Doubles pair Sohana Thompson (Fairfield, Ohio/Seven Hills School) and Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky./Summit Country Day) were also successful in their match against Bloomsburg, winning 6-2. The win would improve their record to 4-0 against league competition.

Although their match Tuesday was unfinished, duo Gabriella Lerario dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Dante Alighieri) and Amber Nguyen (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) come into the PSAC Semifinals with a 6-3 overall record at second doubles, which includes a mark of 4-1 in league play. The Golden Rams have never failed to win the doubles point in conference play this season so far. They look to continue that streak against Friday.

Tingle's 7-5, 7-5 victory against Lexi Quackenbush would be revenge for her three-set loss earlier in the regular season. The win would even out her PSAC singles record at 2-2. Grooms and Lerario dos Santos were also able to improve their singles record with their important postseason wins for the Golden Rams. Alexander, Thompson, Yuno Oe (Yokohama, Japan/Nihon University Senior High), and Felicia Manful (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) all look to make an impact with their impressive PSAC singles records coming into the weekend. As a collective, the group is 17-5 when it comes to conference play.

For its part, IUP looks to become the third team to complete the four-peat in PSAC women's tennis history. With a 10-8 overall record, IUP starts its postseason tournament with an undefeated 6-0 record in conference play.

Ming Deewajee has played in the first singles spot for the majority of the season. She comes into the tournament with a 5-1 record, only losing against Mercyhurst's Kayla Dean in straight sets. She has also excelled alongside Dani Ramos at the first doubles spot for the Crimson Hawks. Again, her only loss would come at the hands of Mercyhurst duo Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy. The loss would become Ramos' only conference defeat in both singles and doubles this season. The Jackson State transfer played to a perfect mark of 6-0 at the third singles spot during her first year at IUP.

Senior Katy Graydon also maintained a perfect PSAC record in singles play only losing out in doubles to Mercyhurst's Sara Bortolez Puente and Daria Rogova. Graydon and Lydia Vlachou would end their regular season with a 5-1 mark at the second doubles spot. Vlachou, who played primarily at fourth singles, played to a mark of 5-1 losing to Slippery Rock's Nichole Kempton in straight sets.

With a victory, West Chester would advance to the PSAC Championship match on Saturday in Bloomsburg, Pa., for the first time under Tharp.
