Women's Tennis Edged by Millersville in Pivotal PSAC East Clash
Box Score MILLERSVILLE, PA.- Looking to take control of the PSAC East heading into the final week of the regular season, the West Chester University women's tennis team (6-10, 4-1) traveled to Millersville on Saturday afternoon. Tori Alexander (Norristown, Pa./Spring-Ford) earned victories in both singles and doubles play but was the lone Golden Ram accomplish this feat as West Chester fell by a 5-2 final.
The Golden Rams managed to claim the doubles point with wins at the first and third spot. Pairs Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) / Alexander and Sohana Thompson(Fairfield, OH/The Seven Hills School) / Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky/The Summit Country Day School) gave the visitors the start that they were looking for against the rival Marauders.
In singles play, four of six matches went to a full third set to decide the match. Millersville came up with a response by winning at the third and fourth singles spot giving them a 2-1 lead. At second singles, Alexander won her match against Millersville's Hui Jen Soo to tie the match at 2-2. The host would deny a comeback from the Golden Rams by winning first and sixth singles clinching the match before expanding their win to a 5-2 final.
