KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The United Soccer Coaches Association released its Division II Women's Soccer All-America teams on Thursday, and Faith Matter (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) along with Kaitlynn Haughey (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) both repeated as All-America selections. Matter was named a First Team All-American for the first time in her career, while Haughey was selected to the Third Team.
For Matter, this is her second career United Soccer All-America certificate, following up on a rookie season, which saw her earn Second Team All-American honors. This is also Haughey's second career All-America recognition, following up on the 2022 season, which saw her earn First Team honors. Matter and Haughey are also the first repeat United Soccer All-America selections for West Chester since Sarah Oswald was honored three times in 2007, 2009, and 2010.
Matter, the PSAC East Player of the Year in 2023, turned in another excellent season for the Golden Rams as a sophomore, scoring 12 goals, including five game-winners with 11 assists for 35 points on the year. This 35-point season stands as eighth best in single-season program history, moving her into eight in career points with 60 on her career. The sophomore scored two goals in the NCAA Tournament, notching the game-winner against Frostburg State in the Opening Round before scoring the tying goal, eventually forcing PKs in the Atlantic Region Championship game against Gannon last Friday afternoon.
Haughey was named the MVP of the 2023 PSAC Championships after scoring a goal in both the PSAC Semifinal and Championship game while assisting on another, finishing the year with five goals, including two game-winners and three assists to her credit.
