Morley and Davies Earn All-NIRA Honors
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) released its All-NIRA Division II team on Wednesday afternoon, and West Chester had a pair of student-athletes honored as Faith Morley (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown West) was a First 15 selection, while Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) was an Honorable Mention selection.
This marks the third year in a row in which Morley was named to the All-NIRA squad, as she was an Honorable Mention each of the last two years, while Davies makes her first appearance at the conclusion of her freshman 15s season.
Davies led the team in scoring as a rookie, finishing with a pair of trys, six penalty kicks, and eight conversions for a team-high 44 points in seven matches. Morley appeared and started in all eight matches and scored a pair of trys, finishing the season with 10 points of her own.
West Chester ended its season with a record of 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league action after posting a dominant 87-0 victory over New Haven in its home opener on October 7. This dominant victory helped West Chester return to the NIRA Tier II Tournament again in 2023, traveling back to Davenport for a Semifinal matchup against the Panthers before falling by a 117-3 final.
West Chester will now shift its attention to the Spring 7s season as the team begins that segment on March 3 at the Frostbite 7s Tournament in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Following this, West Chester will have a near month-long gap before returning to action at home on March 30 for its annual WCU Invitational on South Campus.
