Women's Rugby Competes at Princeton Emperor 7's Tournament
WEST WINDSOR, N.J.- The West Chester University women's rugby team returned to action on Sunday afternoon with a visit to the Garden State for the Emperor 7's Tournament hosted by Princeton University. Facing off against some of the premiere women's collegiate rugby teams in the region, including Penn State, Princeton, and Navy, West Chester went 2-6 on the afternoon between the two sides it entered into the Tournament.
West Chester Purple went 0-4, falling to Penn State two times by the same score, 17-12. The Golden Rams also lost to Navy 24-7 and Princeton 26-5. Ty Hickey led West Chester in scoring today with 3 trys and 1 conversion for 17 points.
West Chester Gold beat Princeton 19-10 to open its day and lost to Navy and Penn State 24-7. Ashlyn Wissler scored a hat trick with 3 trys and 15 points, while Keeley Fugazzi had a try and 4 conversions for 13 points. Lilianna Spears had an important try to seal the victory for the Rams in the consolation game against Princeton, 20-12.
The Golden Rams are back in action next Saturday at the Frostburg 7's.
