Women's Rugby Competes at Frostburg 7's Tournament
FROSTBURG, Md.- The West Chester University women's rugby squad returned to action on Sunday afternoon for its final regular-season Tournament at the Frostburg University 7's Tournament. West Chester went 2-3 on the day overall, as the Purple squad played to a mark of 1-2, while the Gold team went 1-1.
The Golden Rams purple squad started the day with a 37-5 victory over Mount St. Mary's as the Golden Rams impressed throughout the match with seven trys. Ty Hickey (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Camryn Snow (Exton, Pa./West Chester East) each scored a pair of trys, while Hickey added a conversion to help lead the team offensively.
West Chester returned to action shortly thereafter against Navy, falling by a 17-12 final despite another try by Snow and Lily Rhode (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland), who scored her first collegiate try.
Purple concluded its day against Penn State, falling to the Nittany Lions by a 19-5 final.
For the Gold squad, West Chester earned a victory over the Navy third team by a 17-12 final before falling to Penn State by a 36-7 final as Sophia Hoyer (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) scored the lone try for West Chester in this match.
