Women's Rugby Drops League Battle vs American International, 37-0
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's rugby squad continued its homestand on Saturday afternoon with a matchup against rival and perennial power American International College (AIC). West Chester battled throughout the afternoon and played through a steady rain but fell to AIC by a 37-0 final.
The visiting Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead, starting off with a Cam Henderson try before Morgan Schechter added one of her own 15 minutes later to give the visitors an early 10-0 lead. AIC appeared as if it may score for a third time before the halftime break, but West Chester stiffened defensively and came away with a huge stop, keeping the deficit at 10-0 heading into the break.
Just under 10 minutes into the second half, AIC reopened the scoring when Ivana Kiripati found her way past the West Chester defense to make it a 15-0 lead. Henderson and Kiripati each added tries later in the half, further increasing the Yellow Jacket lead en route to a 37-0 victory over the Golden Rams.
