No. 2 West Chester Comes From Behind To Take Down No. 10 Kutztown, 14-11

KUTZTOWN, PA – Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) scored a career-high five goals to help lead second-ranked West Chester to a 14-11 victory over 10th-ranked and host Kutztown on a sunny and warm Wednesday afternoon.

KUTZTOWN, PASydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) scored a career-high five goals to help lead second-ranked West Chester to a 14-11 victory over 10th-ranked and host Kutztown on a sunny and warm Wednesday afternoon.

West Chester (16-0, 11-0 PSAC East) clinched the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the fourth straight year while snapping a six-game winning streak by Kutztown (13-3, 9-2). The Golden Rams claimed its sixth PSAC East crown under head coach Ginny Martino. They have now outright won, or tied, the conference regular-season title for the sixth straight year in which a season was played.

Ironically, the Golden Rams have finished in first place, or at least a tie for first place, all six years that the PSAC has split into divisions during Martino's tenure. With one PSAC East game left on the 2024 slate, West Chester is a combined 64-1 against Eastern Division opposition in those six years.

The Golden Rams run their conference unbeaten streak to 32 games, dating back to 2022.

Wasdick, who scored four goals in West Chester's win over Kutztown at West Chester earlier in the year, bettered that career total by one giving her nine goals against the Golden Bears this season. She potted three of her four tallies in the second quarter when the visitors outscored the hosts, 4-2, to crawl within one at halftime.

The teams traded three-goal spurts in the third quarter, and Kutztown held a 9-8 advantage with just over five minutes left in the frame. That's when West Chester scored four of the next five tallies to open up a 13-10 lead.

Hannah Stanislawczyk (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin) scored four goals on the day and now sits at 286 career goals. Amanda Wolfe (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) had a pair as well.

Goalkeeper Jessica Gorr (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) tied the school record with her 51st career win in the cage.

Martino picks up her 20th regular-season PSAC crown with the clincher Wednesday. Thirteen of those 20 she finished the conference slate undefeated. She will go for No. 14 in that category on Saturday against Millersville.

West Chester concludes its regular season on Saturday at home against Millersville on Senior Day. That game is set to begin at 1 p.m. and will be preceded by a brief ceremony honoring the lacrosse seniors of 2024.
