Cascadden Ties School Record on Floor; WCU Downs Cornell
WEST CHESTER, PA – Senior Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) tied the school record on the floor to help lead host West Chester to a 193.975-192.325 victory over visiting Cornell in a dual meet Friday afternoon inside Sturzebecker Health Science Center.
West Chester individuals won two of the four events while the Golden Rams shattered the school record on the floor just one week after setting a new standard at Temple. West Chester scored a 49.275 on the floor in sweeping the top five spots. That bettered last week's 49.175 inside McGonigle Hall.
Cascadden, who set a new personal best of a 9.9 on the balance beam last week, established a new career high on the floor that was also above a 9.9. Her score of 9.925 tied the school record held by both Majesta Valentine and Jessica Meakim. Not to be forgotten in all of her record-breaking efforts, Cascadden was second on the balance beam with a score of 9.775.
Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) was second on the floor with a 9.875, and Kristina Rodriguez (Cincinnati, Ohio) was third with a 9.85. Corinne Gruber (Barto, Pa.) was fourth on the floor with a 9.85. Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) tied for fifth with a 9.8.
Eskew was also second on the vault to the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) three-time gymnast of the week, Sydney Beers, from Cornell. She posted a 9.775. Eskew was also second with a 9.775 on the uneven bars to teammate Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.), who won the event with a 9.825.
