INDIVIDUAL MEET RESULTS WEST CHESTER, PA

– West Chester University junior gymnast, Jordan Coleman (Bowie, Md.) won the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championship on the uneven bars at the 2024 USAG Nationals held inside Hollinger Field House on the campus of West Chester University Sunday afternoon. Coleman scored a 9.8875 on the bars and then waited out three more competitors to find out she was the national champ with the top score.

Coleman is just the second national champion from West Chester University and the first since 2017 when Majesta Valentine was the all-around champion at USAG nationals in Seattle, Wash. Coleman posted the top score of 10 competitors, including defending champion, Kaylee Cooper from Lindenwood. Cooper reached the podium again on Sunday. However, she was the sixth-place finisher in the event.

"All the hard work and all the time spent in the gym has paid off," Coleman said afterwards. "It feels really great, and I am really excited. I knew I had a shot coming in. I just had to stick that landing, and when I stuck it, I felt, 'Well, that might have been it. It was great to do this in front of the home crowd and capitalize on such a record-breaking season. We made the team finals for the first time, and West Chester is here to stay. We are only going up from here. I am really grateful to be a part of such a great program. It is really taking off, and that is special."

"(Coleman's performance) was amazing," West Chester head coach Barb Cordova said afterwards. "She started off the year with a 9.925 at Maryland. She stuck the landing there, and she finished the year at home with an equally amazing routine. One of the judges gave her a 9.995, which was thrown out because they drop the highest and lowest scores. She knew what she needed to do, and she did it."

West Chester had a competitor in all four of the individual finals on Sunday. However, only Coleman and Sarah Eskew (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made it to the podium during the awards ceremony. Eskew placed fifth in the all-around competition for West Chester. Eskew scored a 38.85 in the all-around for the Golden Rams on Friday evening when the finals of that event took place. She also participated in the vault and placed 12th.

Lily McFarland (Baltimore, Md.) finished just out of a podium spot by placing eighth on the balance beam with a 9.725. Caroline Cascadden (Ashburn, Va.) was 12th in the floor exercise for the Golden Rams.

"So much work (to host an event like this). But, so well worth it. It was an honor to host, and I am so passionate about this event. I think it showcases so many schools and so much great gymnastics. I never dreamed we would host this. But, I have to absolutely thank our staff, our athletic department staff, our athletic training staff. Without the support of all those groups and this university, this event doesn't happen. The men' soccer team and the football team were here to help set up and tear down. The field hockey team worked the entire event. Without that support of the entire West Chester University community, we could not have done this. That was key. I've already gotten a lot of comments about how well done and how well run the event was this weekend. I am so proud of that."

With Jordan Coleman's national championship, that puts a bow on the 2024 West Chester University women's gymnastics season. Coleman said she is taking a week off, but will be back in the gym after that to prepare for a title defense next April.
