Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at PSAC Championships; Vanderhorst Finishes 14th

KUTZTOWN, Pa.- Kirsten Vanderhorst (Gambrills, Md./Bishop McNamara) finished in 14th with a 54-hole score of 249 (+33; 82, 83, 84; 249) to lead the West Chester University women's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the PSAC Women's Golf Championships at Berkleigh Golf Club in Kutztown on Sunday afternoon. West Chester resided in sixth for much of the Tournament but used a final round 338, which matched the squad's opening round effort to climb into the top five with a 54-hole score of 1,018 (338, 342, 338).
Vanderhorst carded her second birdie of the Tournament as she finished up on Sunday on, the 18th, signing for an 84 (+12) as she finished the Championships at +33 over for the week.
Morgan Kunze (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) carded two more birdies in the final round on Sunday, recording a three on the par-four second and a four on the par-five 18th alongside Vanderhost as the rookie climbed from a tie for 27th entering the day to a tie for 25th with a 54-hole score of +46 (86, 88, 88; 262). Josephine Genuardi (Harleysville, Pa./William Penn) also finished in a tie for 25th, wrapping up her Golden Ram career with a final round 89 to finish the Championships at +46 (85, 88, 89; 262).
Despite carding birdies on the par-four 10th and par-four 17th, Cierra Griffith (Pottstown, Pa./Spring-Ford) slipped from a tie for 27th after the second round to a tie for 30th on Sunday night, finishing with a 54-hole score of +48 (85, 89, 90; 264).
Margaux Solis (Houston, Tx./Klein) put together a strong final round on Sunday, carding a five-over 77 as the low Golden Ram on Sunday thanks in part to birdies on the par-three 15th and the par-four 17th late in her final round. Solis, who entered as a lineup sub beginning with the second round on Saturday, finished 55th with a 36-hole score of +16 (83, 77; 160).
Dittie Peterson went wire-to-wire to hoist the PSAC Individual Championship trophy, finishing her Championships with a 54-hole score of +2 (71, 74, 73; 216). Petersen was one of three Golden Knights in the top five, and Cloe Matteo was second at +5 over for the Championships, followed by Andrea Martinez in fifth at +20. The efforts of this trio, along with Sarah White, who finished in a tie for 10th at +32, helped Gannon also go wire-to-wire on the team leaderboard, hoisting the team trophy with a 54-hole score of 919 (306, 310, 303; 919).
