Women's Cross Country Picked 13th in PSAC Preseason Poll
LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its women's cross country preseason coaches poll on Wednesday afternoon. West Chester was picked to finish 13th in the PSAC, following an 11th-place finish at the 2022 Championships.
Lock Haven was picked as the favorite to capture the PSAC Crown, receiving nine first-place votes, while Slippery Rock was picked second with one vote, Edinboro in third with four, and Bloomsburg in fourth with one first-place vote of its own with California (Pa.) rounding out the top five. Kutztown was picked sixth, followed by Seton Hill with two first-place votes and Shippensburg with one, while Clarion and Gannon rounded out the top 10.
West Chester returns several key pieces from a year ago, including Josey George (Oxford, Ga./Walnut Grove) and Abigail Marion (South Abington, Pa./Abington Heights), who are the Golden Rams two top returning finishers from the 2022 PSAC Championships along with 2023 co-captains Alexandra Amin (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing), and Allison Myers (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown).
West Chester will begin its 2023 season similarly to how it did a year ago with a visit to Shippensburg on September 1 for the Piper Cross Country Challenge before heading to Kutztown two weeks later for the DII/DIII Challenge. West Chester concludes its September slate on September 30 with a visit to Lehigh for the Paul Short Invitational before traveling to Bloomsburg on October 7 in its final meet ahead of the PSAC Championships later in October. This trip to Bloomsburg will also give the Golden Rams the opportunity to preview the Championship course ahead of the PSAC Championships on October 21.
