West Chester University Cheerleading Tryouts 2024-25
 
Tryout Eligibility:

• Full Time WCU Students
• First Year in College Students with an acceptance or pending acceptance (all requirements submitted) letter to WCU for Summer and/or Fall
• Transfer Students who have been accepted or pending an admissions decision with a completed WCU application (all requirements received by WCU)

 Evaluations & Tryouts:
The Team is selected by the WCU Coaching Staff.  Clinics and the in-person tryouts are closed to spectators.

FIRST ROUND: ATTEND A COLLEGE PREP CLINIC
Attend one of our College Prep Clinic being held on (2/24-SOLD OUT), 3/29, or 3/30 in Hollinger Field House.  Registration information can be found on our website.

SECOND ROUND: VIDEO & FORMS SUBMISSION
All candidates need to be registered by Friday April 5^th 12pm

1. Completion of the required Tryout Application CLICK HERE.
 
2. Student athletes, either existing or new, need to upload documents here. 
A. A health assessment and physical, dated within 1 year of the tryout, 4/12/24. 
B. A copy of the Front AND Back of health insurance card. 
C. Head Shot in Uniform.

3. Video:

: Introduce yourself, your intended major, stunting position, what sets you apart from others trying out, strengths as a team member, and why you are interested in cheering at WCU.

: Current video on dead mat, track, gym floor, turf, or grass

:  GAME DAY STUNTS- lib pop off, heel stretch full down, j-toss extension rewind,  quick toss extension pop off , shoulder stands.  ELITE STUNTS—Spinning Variations, BHS Ups, Various Inverted Skills (any additional skills welcome).  BASKETS—want to see the ability to learn baskets quickly at clinics and in-person tryout.  Straight ride, toe touch, tuck.

: Video will be posted-- Ability to lead the crowd, sharpness and motion placement.

Must show ability to lead the crowd in a gameday situation.  Looking for strong motion placement knowledge and sharpness.

 · Females: Please wear a t-shirt, cheer shorts (both in WCU colors), white socks and sneakers. Hair should be a clean slick back mid pony with bow and makeup.  Be game day ready.
· Males: Clean shaven. T-shirt and gym shorts (both in WCU colors), white socks and athletic sneakers.  Be game day ready.

: Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and mark video visibility as unlisted.

FINAL ROUND: IN-PERSON TRYOUT/INTERVIEW
Location: Sturzebecker Health and Science Center Gym 1.
April 13^th 9 a.m. 1p.m. / April 14^th 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Invitations will be sent via email for an in-person tryout for candidates advancing to this round. 
 Everyone will be evaluated individually based on execution, difficulty, and coachability of skills and ability to lead the crowd.
Please wear a t-shirt, cheer shorts (both in WCU colors), white socks and sneakers. Hair should be a clean slick back mid pony with bow and makeup.  Be game day ready.
It may be helpful to note that our cheerleaders have a very clean-cut image. 
*No jewelry of any kind is permitted including belly rings and other body piercings, except for 1 set of Pearl Earrings. Nails must be always an athletic length!
