Men's Track & Field Shines With a Plethora Of Personal Bests at Paul Donahue Invitational

CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University men's track and field squad continued its stellar 2024 outdoor season at the Paul Donahue Invitational, hosted by Widener, this weekend. West Chester performed tremendously throughout the weekend, posting a host of personal best performances over the course of the two-day meet.

The West Chester University men's track and field squad continued its stellar 2024 outdoor season at the Paul Donahue Invitational, hosted by Widener, this weekend. West Chester performed tremendously throughout the weekend, posting a host of personal best performances over the course of the two-day meet.
 
Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led the way for the throws group, placing second in the discus with a throw of 158 feet 8 ½ inches. The junior also placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 47-5 ¼.  
 
 Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed 13th in the shot put with a throw of 42-6 ¾.
 
 Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum) placed 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 132-07.
 
In the 100-meter dash, Nick Tran (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) ran a personal best time of 11.05 seconds for ninth place.
 
Farrell placed tenth overall in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line at 22.08. This marks a personal best for the junior and also serves as a PSAC qualifying time.
 
Jack Wasserman (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) ran a time of 50.42 in the 400, which was just shy of a personal best.
 
Elijah Severe (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) placed 18th in the 110 hurdles, running a personal best time of 17.05.
 
 

Josh Miller

 (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) ran a time of 15:03.03 in the 5000-meter run, which was good enough for a PSAC qualifying time.  Jason Vogt (Southampton, Pa./ William Tennent) also ran a personal best time of 15:17.85, serving as a PSAC qualifying time.
 
Miller continued his impressive day by running a personal best and PSAC qualifying time of 3:59.45 in the 1500, placing just outside the top 20. Philip Smith (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) ran a time of 4:02.86, narrowly missing out on a PSAC qualifying time.
 
In the 10,000-meter run, Nicholas Falsone (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) ran a new personal best, clocking in at 33:41.48 for 14th place, narrowly missing the PSAC qualifying time.  Sean Fisher (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) ran a personal best time of 34:05.25, good enough for 16th place.
 
In the 3000-meter steeplechase,  Luke Pikulski (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) ran a PSAC qualifying time of 10:11.21 for ninth.
 
 Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) placed fourth in the triple jump, leaping to a mark of 48-3 ¼. The fifth-year also placed third in the long jump, leaping to a mark of 22-00 ¾.
 
In the high jump, Derrick Johnson (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Junior Duffault (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) cleared heights of 5-09 ¾, tying for 15th place. 
 
In the 4x400 relay, the A team posted a time of 3:18.74 for second place.

The Golden Rams will be back in action next week at home for the WCU Last Chance Invitational, along with select members of the team competing at Penn Relays.
