Men's Track and Field Places Second in Golden Ram Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa.- After a stellar performance at the Danny Curran Invitational a week ago, the West Chester University men's track and field squad continued its momentum on Saturday afternoon with another excellent performance inside John A. Farrell Stadium for the Golden Ram Invitational. West Chester, led by a host of first-place finishes, took second place in the team standings, finishing with 136 total points to its name.

MEET RESULTS WEST CHESTER, Pa.-

After a stellar performance at the Danny Curran Invitational a week ago, the West Chester University men's track and field squad continued its momentum on Saturday afternoon with another excellent performance inside John A. Farrell Stadium for the Golden Ram Invitational. West Chester, led by a host of first-place finishes, took second place in the team standings, finishing with 136 total points to its name.
 
In the 200-meter dash  Joshua Eng (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) placed 12th running a time of 23.29 seconds. Alijah Serrano (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) crossed the finish line at 23.31 for a 13th-place finish.  Kaleb Brown (Reading, Pa./Wilson) placed 16th with a time of 23.59.
 
 Jack Wasserman (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and David Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) placed second and third in the 400-meter dash running times of 50.68 and 51.51, respectively. Gabriel Lawler (Bangor, Pa./Bangor Area) placed sixth, running a time of 52.73.
 
In the long jump, Nicholas Page (Laurel, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) placed third with a leap of 20 feet 2 ½ inches (6.16 meters).
 
Sammy Jenkins (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) was victorious in the pole vault, clearing a PSAC qualifying height of 13-9 ½ (4.20 meters). Devon Carlson-Swank (Elliotsburg, Pa./Connections Charter) 12-9 ½ (3.90 meters).
 
Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led the throws group, placing first overall in discus with a personal best mark of 158-11 ¼ (48.44 meters). Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed fifth with a throw of 111-2 ¾ (33.90 meters). Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum [Del.]) placed seventh with a throw of 95-11 ¼ (29.24 meters). Burnshaw placed eighth with a mark of 84-4  (25.70 meters).
 
In the shot put, Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed third with a throw of 43-3 ¾ (13.20 meters). Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) placed fourth with a throw of 41-6 ½ (12.66 meters).
  
Lukumoski-Pizzo also placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 140-0 ¾ (42.69 meters). Thorton finished right behind him, placing third with a throw of 132-4 ¼ (40.34 meters). Smith came in fourth with a throw of 126-9 ¼ (38.64 meters).

West Chester also took the top two spots in the javelin as Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) won the event with a mark of 166-4 (50.71 meters), while Thornton was second at 136-9 (41.69).

The Golden Rams will be back in action at home next week on Saturday, April 13th, for the Bill Butler Invitational, where they will also be helping to spread Mental Health Awareness as it has also been designated as "The Hidden Opponent Mental Health Meet."
