West Chester Falls Short in PSAC Championship Game to Millersville, 1-0

ERIE, PA – Millersville repeated as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champions with a 1-0 win over West Chester at McConnell Stadium on the campus of Gannon University Sunday afternoon.

ERIE, PA – Millersville repeated as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champions with a 1-0 win over West Chester at McConnell Stadium on the campus of Gannon University Sunday afternoon.

West Chester (11-5-4) saw its magical run to the conference finals fall just short of the eventual prize. However, the Golden Rams, who were ranked seventh in last week's Super Regional poll most likely did enough to earn one of the 10 spots in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament, which gets under way next weekend.

Millersville (14-2-3) struck first 16 minutes into the contest when a set piece from Mike Kreider into the top of the six-yard box was played by Aaron Maynard up and over the head of West Chester goalkeeper Daniel Good (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), who had come out to challenge the incoming set.

That was all the scoring that the Marauders needed as they proceeded to control the middle of the pitch and the tempo for the remainder of the contest.

Good made five saves for West Chester in the loss while Millersville's Travis Holiday made four stops.

West Chester will find out if its season continues Monday evening at 7 p.m. when the NCAA Selection Show airs on NCAA.com.
