West Chester Picked to Finish Third in PSAC Eastern Division
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University's football squad was picked to finish third in the PSAC East by a vote of the division's head coaches. The Golden Rams finished in a tie with Bloomsburg for third place in last year's final standings.
West Chester, coming off a 4-6 season under first-year head coach, Duke Greco, posted a winning record in conference play by finishing up 4-3 within the Eastern Division. The Golden Rams won four of their last six games in 2024 and will look to use some of that momentum to compete for the Eastern Division title in 2025.
Kutztown was selected to once again win the Eastern Division in the preseason poll of the loop's head coaches with seven of eight first-place votes. The Golden Bears are the two-time defending conference champions and have won the PSAC title in three of the last four seasons. East Stroudsburg, which received the other first-place nod, was picked to finish second ahead of West Chester. Shepherd was picked to finish fourth right behind the Golden Rams while Bloomsburg and Lock Haven were slated fifth and sixth, respectively. Shippensburg and Millersville rounded out the preseason poll in the East.
Slippery Rock was picked to win the Western Division, edging Indiana (Pa.), who was slotted into second. The Rock garnered four first-place votes from the West head coaches while IUP picked up the other three. Defending Western Division champion, Cal U, was picked third in the preseason poll. Gannon and Seton Hill were picked fourth and fifth, respectively. West Chester travels to Cal U in Week 2 of the season before hosting Seton Hill in Week 3, representing the Golden Rams' two crossover matches before league play. Edinboro was picked sixth while Clarion was seventh.
West Chester opens its 2025 season on the road Sept. 6 at Bentley University. Game time up in Waltham, Mass., is set for 12 p.m. The Golden Rams' will travel to Cal U the following week, before opening its home slate on Sept 20 against Seton Hill.
