Methlie Named to PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Squad
PHILADELPHIA- The Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) released its football Academic All-Area team on Thursday morning, and red-shirt sophomore Patrick Methlie (Avondale, Pa./Salesianum (Del.)) was the lone Golden Ram honored.
This honor is the second of Methlie's career as he made his debut on the Academic All-Area squad as a red-shirt freshman in 2022.
The 2023 Philly SIDA Academic All-Area football team is selected by Sports Information Directors from the greater Philadelphia area schools and recognizes the top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Methlie was part of an offensive line that returned completely intact from a year ago, and the red-shirt sophomore picked up right where he led off for another stellar sophomore campaign. Holding down the left tackle position once again this fall, Methlie blocked for the fifth-ranked offense in the PSAC, while West Chester's total offense was sixth. He has appeared in and started 21 of 22 games in his two years as the Golden Rams' starting left tackle.
