Women's Track & Field Impresses at Danny Curran Invite
CHESTER, Pa.- Lily Palacio-Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) highlighted the Golden Rams with a stellar performance in the 100 and 200-meter dash as several members of the West Chester University women's track and field team qualified for the PSAC Championships during the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University.
Palacio-Lewis was victorious in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 12.29 seconds. This puts her ninth all-time in school history in the 100m. The senior also placed second in the 200-meter dash, running a PSAC qualifying and personal best time of 25.22.
Katja Larsen (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) posted a time of 12.96 to place eighth in the 100m. Gabrielle Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./C.D. East) placed 12th, finishing at 13.10.
Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) placed ninth in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line with a personal best time of 1:02.10. The Rookie also ran a time of 26.64 in the 200m for tenth place.
In the 5000-meter run,
(Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) placed fifth, running a PSAC Qualifying time of 18 minutes 12.39 seconds. Following her lead was Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, NJ./West Deptford), who placed 15th at 18:49.69.
In the Women's Discus Throw, Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) placed fifth with a throw of 110 feet and 6 inches.
In the shot put, Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) placed seventh with a throw of 35-6 ¾. Jaclyn Borcky (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) placed 15th with a mark of 31-2 ¾.
In the hammer throw, three Golden Rams recorded personal best marks. Adrianna Bryant (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) led the way for the throws group, putting up a throw of 138-05 for fourth place. Behind her was Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley), with a mark of 104-10 for 14th place. Kayla Lockburner (Hillsborough, N.J. Hillsborough) also recorded a throw of 97-00 for 18th place.
Borcky led the Golden Rams in the Javelin throw with a mark of 106-02, which earned her third place. Lockburner followed up her teammate's performance with a throw of 102-08, which earned her eighth place. Sydney Pearson (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) placed 11th with a throw of 97-09.
Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) secured the win by clearing a PSAC qualifying height of 12-03 ½ in the pole vault.
(Palmyra, Pa. Palmyra) finished right behind her fellow teammate, clearing a height of 10-10 for second, which is good for a PSAC qualifying mark. Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) placed fifth, clearing a height of 10-04. Haley Sambora (Exton, Pa./Great Valley) was eight, clearing a height of 8-10 ¼.
In the triple jump, Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./ Pennsbury) placed first overall with a PSAC qualifying mark of 36-04 ¾. Ozioma Ottih (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham) placed sixth with a jump of 34-02 ¼.
In the 100-Meter Hurdles, Kamryn Fontaine (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) placed seventh with a personal best time of 17.27, while Jade Williams (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) placed ninth with a time of 18.35.
Fontaine and Williams also placed 13th and 14th in the 400-meter hurdles running times of 1:15.04 and 1:15.10, respectively.
Josey George (Oxford, Ga./Walnut Grove) placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeple chase, running a PSAC qualifying time of 12:03.14.
In the 4x100 Relay, the A team crossed the finish line at 48.70 for a second-place finish.
