WEST CHESTER, PA – Indiana (Pa.) Fatou Diop tipped a shot from Devon Johnson into the cage with 1:15 left in the game to lift visiting IUP to a 2-1 victory over No. 4 and host West Chester at a rain-drenched Vonnie Gros Field Saturday evening.

West Chester (8-5, 3-3 PSAC) dropped its second straight contest in league play while IUP (7-4, 4-2) picked up just its second win over the Golden Rams ever and the first since 2016 – ending a nine-game losing streak. It was the Crimson Hawks' first win on the road against West Chester.

Jess Davidson's 11th goal of the season opened the scoring in the second quarter off a penalty corner. Roos van Herel fired a shot off the insertion from Sydney Schmouder that Davidson tipped in front past West Chester goalkeeper Alina Burger (Konigs Wusterhausen, Brandenburg, Germany).

Cameron Smith (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) found the back of the cage for West Chester with three minutes left in the third quarter to knot things up at 1-1. That tally ended a 72-minute scoreless spell for the Golden Rams dating back to their win over Frostburg State.

That's how things stood until the final fateful minutes of the contest.

West Chester travels to Kutztown on Tuesday and then to Mansfield on Saturday.
