Rivers Triple Jump Victory headlines Men's Track and Field at Danny Curran Invitational
CHESTER, Pa.- Will Rivers (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) was victorious in the triple jump, leaping to a mark of 48-05 ¼, good for a PSAC qualifying mark. This put him fourth all-time in school history in the event, landing him on the NCAA provisional list to headline the West Chester University men's track and field team at the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener.
In the Pole Vault, Devon Carlson-Swank (Elliotsburg, Pa./Connections Charter) started things for the Golden Rams, clearing a height of 4.45 meters for a second-place finish and a PSAC qualifying mark. This marks a new personal best for the sophomore transfer student.
In the shot put, Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) led the way with a throw of 44 feet and 5.25 inches for fourth. Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) finished right behind him, placing fifth with a throw of 43-06. This marks a new personal best for the junior.
Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) continued to lead the throws group, placing second in the discus with a mark of 148-11, which is also good for a PSAC qualifying mark. Thomas Smith (Wallingford, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed 12th with a throw of 114-06. Ben Thornton (Lincoln University, Pa./Salesianum [Del.]) placed 18th with a throw of 103-09 in the discus.
concluded his day by placing ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 142-05.
Thorton also placed 15th with a throw of 125-10 in the event.
Chase Parkinson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) placed sixth with a PSAC qualifying mark of 45-01 ¾, a personal best for the sophomore.
The jumps group continued their success on day two in the Long Jump as
(Laurel, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) was victorious, leaping to a PSAC qualifying mark of 22-11 ¼.
Riversalso placed second in the event with a PSAC qualifying mark of 22-07 ¾.
Parkinson also placed ninth with a personal best mark of 21-07 ¼.
In the 10,000-meter run, Jason Vogt (Southampton, Pa./ William Tennent) posted a personal best time of 32:35:59, also a PSAC qualifying time.
Matt Landis (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) posted a personal best time of 4:21.67 in the 1500-meter run.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Rookie Elijah Severe (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) made his Golden Ram debut, running a time of 17.14 for 15th place.
In the 100-meter dash,
(West Chester, Pa./Rustin) placed 14th with a time of 11.18. Amarre Mayo (Newtown, Pa./ Council Rock North) and Nick Tran (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) ran times of 11.22 for 19th and 21st place, respectively.

Gallen also ran times of 22.71 and 22.74 in the 200-meter dash, placing 18th and 19th, respectively.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Jason Shumaker (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) placed 5th, running a PSAC qualifying time of 10:00.57.
(Springfield, Pa./Springfield DELCO) ran a time of 10:21.80 for ninth.
In the 4x100 Relay, the A team crossed the finish line in 42.10 for a fourth-place finish.
