WEST CHESTER, PA.- The West Chester women's tennis team (8-11) played its final regular season match of the season against Frostburg State University (12-9). Despite wins from first and third singles, the Golden Rams were unable to vanquish their visitors, falling by a 5-2 final in the regular-season finale.
Frostburg State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in doubles action by capturing the first and second doubles matches by 7-6 and 6-0 finals, respectively. Pair Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky/The Summit Country Day School) and Sohana Thompson(Fairfield, OH/The Seven Hills School) won comfortably at the third doubles spot with a 6-0 final.
Grooms would become the hosts first winner in singles play with a straight set victory at the third singles spot. However, Frostburg took control of the match from this point and won four of the five remaining singles courts to claim a 5-1 victory. Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert High) would become the last player to leave the court today with a 7-6 7-5 victory over her opponent.
