Softball vs Wilmington Postponed Due to Rain
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University softball doubleheader vs Wilmington has been postponed due to rain.
The first game of the doubleheader began at 2 p.m. and completed 2.5 innings before the rains intensified and led to play being suspended and the remainder of the day being postponed. A resumption date/make-up date has yet to be announced.
West Chester trails 1-0 in the bottom of the third in game one as Wilmington scored its first run of the game in the top of the third after a leadoff double by Hailey Downin and an RBI single up the middle by Julia Thuer.
Makenzie Edwards (Atco, N.J./Hammonton) got the start for West Chester and allowed just that one run on three hits, while striking out two. Kylee Gunkel got the start for Wilmington and allowed just one hit, while striking out two in two innings of work. Play was suspended with a 1-1 count to Kayla Fitzpatrick (Carle Place, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) to lead off the third.

West Chester again went 1-1 on the day, falling to Penn State in the Plate Semifinals before defeating Notre Dame College (Ohio) by a 19-0 final in the 7th-8th place game to finish the Tournament with a record of 2-2 in seventh in the Premiere Cup Division.
