Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Kutztown with 4-3 Game Two Victory
KUTZTOWN, Pa.- Finishing a three-doubleheader in a three-day stretch, the West Chester University softball team (15-11, 7-3) took to the road on Tuesday afternoon to renew its rivalry with Kutztown (16-12, 7-3). West Chester fell victim to a late-game comeback in game one as the Golden Bears halted the Golden Rams four-game winning streak with a 4-3 win in 10 innings before the Golden Rams held off the Golden Bears in game two, thanks in part to a Mairead Hopkins (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) home run in the seventh for a 4-3 victory.
Softball Sweeps Doubleheader from Shippensburg on Monday Afternoon
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a 12-inning doubleheader sweep of Mansfield on Sunday, the West Chester University softball team (14-10, 6-2) duplicated the feat on Monday afternoon at home against Shippensburg (14-8, 4-4) as West Chester captured game one by a 5-3 final in seven innings before winning the nightcap by a 10-2 final in just five innings after an explosive seven-run fourth inning, highlighted by a Danielle Ciliberto (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) grand slam.
Softball Sweeps Mansfield
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The West Chester University softball team (12-10, 4-2) was back in action on Sunday afternoon at Lycoming Valley Intermediate School against Mansfield (3-13, 0-8) in a PSAC East clash. Playing its first two games of a six-game, three-day run, West Chester jumped out to an early lead in both games and won the opener by a 7-4 final before capturing the nightcap by a 12-1 final in five innings.
Softball to Visit Mansfield on Sunday to Begin Busy Three-Day Slate
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University softball team (10-10, 2-2) is preparing for a busy stretch of games, which will see West Chester play three doubleheaders in three days against Mansfield (3-11, 0-6), Shippensburg (14-6, 4-2), and Kutztown (12-10, 3-1) on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, respectively. First pitch in all three doubleheaders is set for 1 p.m., with the Mansfield and Kutztown games being played on the road, while West Chester will host Shippensburg on Monday afternoon in a game originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
